  1. Let’s automate our chores and add a dozen of devices to our home we need to replace with interval. New chores. Not thanks

  2. For Camera, Doorbell and Smart lock I would probably go with ubiquiti’s solution as I have already invested in their ecosystem.
And in my experience a lot of smart home smartlocks/doorbells aren’t perfectly reliable with a wireless connection.
But the solution I am talking about costs easily 350-500+ (There are also devices for POE over WiFi, so don’t actually have to drill holes for wires)

Trying to keep it mostly wired and for a few things Matter.
For heating for example I just use a standard electric oil heater that you just set once, then a smart plug and a thermometer that turns it off whenever it heats to 18 in the winter and 20.5 in Autumn and Spring.
Other option was an expensive smart heater with only very few available options, most of which still require a separate thermometer because obviously a built in thermometer is useless on a heater.
(I have a Smart AC with the built in thermometer at the opening for it, so I just don’t use that thermometer)

And a Thermometer with smart plug only costs like $30-40 to make it work.
